Recovering India Rankings and Building a UK Growth Track
A direct answer to the six questions raised in your brief: what happened to your India rankings, what we would do about it, and how we would build the UK market alongside the recovery without repeating what caused the drop.
1.Google Rankings & Traffic Recovery
Yes - we believe this is recoverable, and the underlying situation is better than it looks.
The timing and shape of the drop line up cleanly with a Google core update: rankings did not decay gradually, they fell off a cliff within days, across the site, in a way that only algorithmic re-evaluation produces. Based on what we found in Ahrefs and Search Console, this reads as pessimization - Google devaluing the site's trust signals sitewide - rather than a manual action or a permanent penalty.
Pessimization is not a filter. There is no waiting period, no formal reconsideration request, and no ban to lift. It is Google's algorithm continuously re-scoring the site's quality and trust signals - which means the moment those signals genuinely improve, the algorithm is free to re-score the site upward again on its own schedule. The path out is direct: remove what triggered the devaluation, and give Google clean, re-crawlable evidence that it is gone.
What triggered it
Two things happened on the site in early 2026, and their timing overlaps too precisely to be a coincidence:
- A mass spam-link burst. Between 27 January and 5 March 2026, referring domains jumped from 1 to 378 - a 37,700% increase in 37 days. 230 of those domains have since dropped off; 100% of them are flagged as spam by Ahrefs, carry a maximum DR of 0.5, sit on disposable TLDs (.info, .xyz, .asia), and all appeared within the same narrow 14-28 February window - a textbook automated link-blast pattern, not organic mentions.
- Thin or low-quality on-page content that no longer clears the bar the last core update raised, which is what determines whether the site keeps the ranking real backlinks would otherwise support.
Google detected the anomalous link pattern, discounted the site's trust signals sitewide, and rankings and clicks collapsed within days - from 1,921 clicks/week in Search Console on 21 May down to 63 clicks just four days later, a 96.7% drop.
How we recover it
- Strip out the weak content. Remove thin, duplicated, or low-value copy from every affected page - this is the single biggest lever, since it is the quality signal most directly tied to the pessimization.
- Rewrite meta tags sitewide. New title tags and meta descriptions aligned to current search intent, submitted alongside the content changes so Google recrawls a materially different page, not a cosmetic edit.
- Disavow the toxic backlink profile. Submit a disavow file covering the remaining 152 spam donor domains through Google Search Console, closing off the link-manipulation signal at its source.
- Reindex and hold. Resubmit updated URLs via URL Inspection and sitemap resubmission, then wait roughly 1-2 weeks for Google to recrawl and re-evaluate before adding anything new - changing everything at once makes it impossible to read which signal moved the needle.
- Roll out new content gradually. Once the cleanup has been recrawled, publish fresh, higher-quality copy on the previously affected pages in batches rather than all at once, watching rankings and GSC clicks after each batch to confirm the recovery is holding before continuing.
Realistically: the cleanup and disavow can be executed within the first 2-3 weeks. Google's recrawl and re-evaluation window typically shows the first directional signal (impressions recovering before clicks) within 2-6 weeks of reindexing, with fuller ranking recovery playing out over 8-12 weeks as new content rolls out and compounds. We will not promise a fixed date - pessimization recovery follows Google's own re-crawl cadence - but we will report weekly against GSC clicks, impressions, and indexation status so progress is visible at every step.
2.Overall SEO Plan
The plan runs on two tracks that share one sequence: fix what is actively suppressing the site in India first, then build the UK market on top of a foundation Google trusts again.
Phase 1a - India: Recovery of Underperforming Pages- Content audit. Identify every underperforming/dropped page and diagnose the specific quality signal affected - thin content, duplication, outdated information, weak E-E-A-T signals.
- Remove weak existing copy. Strip low-value, thin, or duplicated text blocks from affected pages.
- Rewrite meta tags. New title tags and meta descriptions aligned with current search intent and target queries.
- Write new content. Produce fresh, higher-quality copy per page, based on the audit findings.
- Reindex. Submit updated pages via GSC (URL Inspection / sitemap resubmission) to prompt recrawl, then monitor for recovery signals.
- UK market analysis. Market size, user search behavior, and competitive landscape specific to the UK.
- Baseline keyword/semantic research (UK). Core semantic map informing meta tags, on-page copy, and LSI terms across priority pages.
- Competitor analysis (UK). Top-ranking UK competitors, including full backlink profile analysis to surface link gaps and opportunities.
- Create pages for relevant entities not yet covered on the site.
- UK-specific page formula. A repeatable template per entity type, tailored to UK search intent.
- Individual meta tags. Unique, priority-page-specific titles and descriptions for top-priority queries.
- On-page optimization. Sitewide headings, internal linking, content structure, and schema where relevant.
- Technical SEO audit & fixes. Crawlability, indexation, Core Web Vitals, duplicate content, redirects.
- Link building strategy + expired domain acquisition. Target link profile and sourcing plan for expired/drop domains relevant to the UK market.
- Drop domain repurposing. Acquire drops suited to the UK market, rebrand/reskin to align with the site's topical niche, and merge link equity into the main domain.
- Outreach + crowd link building. Ongoing contextual backlinks via outreach placements and crowd/forum-style links.
- Disavow the current toxic backlink profile. Audit the existing link profile and submit a disavow file for identified low-quality/spammy links.
- Launch a blog. Stand up a content marketing section on the site.
- Ongoing publishing cadence. 4-5 articles/month on adjacent, relevant topics, targeted at the UK audience, to build topical authority and supplementary organic entry points.
This is the working plan based on what we know today. The full, page-by-page plan will be finalized after the complete content and backlink audit, and the sequencing of later steps may shift depending on how the site responds to reindexing - we will adjust based on real recovery signals rather than following a fixed script regardless of results.
3.Backlink Quality & Relevance
The final acquisition criteria will be defined after we complete the competitor analysis for the selected keyword clusters - that analysis tells us exactly what the top-ranking sites' link profiles look like and what is realistically achievable in this niche. Based on our experience in the UK geo, here is the baseline criteria we typically apply to any donor site before we consider it:
- ✓Adjacent topical relevance - a direct topical match is rarely available from genuine sites, so we target adjacent/neutral niches rather than forcing an exact-match category.
- ✓DR 20+, verified as organic growth rather than an inflated or manipulated metric.
- ✓Domain age of 1+ year.
- ✓Inbound-to-outbound link ratio of at least 1:1.
- ✓UK traffic that is stable or growing - the single most important filter; a donor's overall metrics mean little if its traffic in the target geo is flat or declining.
- ✓Internal pages ranking, not just the homepage - a sign the site is genuinely maintained, not just holding authority on one page.
- ✓Natural anchor text profile (relaxed for dating/adult source sites, where this signal behaves differently).
- ✓Reputable TLD.
- ✓At least 10 "best links" (per Ahrefs) originating from the UK geo.
- ✓No signs of PBN or link-stacking practices in the donor's own backlink profile.
A number of additional secondary checks are applied case-by-case, but traffic in the target geo remains the deciding factor above all else. Expired-domain (drop) acquisition uses a separate, proprietary vetting methodology that we do not disclose the details of publicly.
4.Experience with the Adult / Entertainment Niche
Yes - we have significant experience in adult SEO specifically in escort directories, along with extensive experience in dating. Below is Search Console performance from an escort project we currently run in the US market:
Top non-branded queries on this project are direct category terms - "escort," "escorts," "ts escort," "ts escorts," "escorts near me" - which is the same query shape and search intent we would be targeting for drazunga.in in both the India recovery and the UK build-out.
5.Country-by-Country SEO Approach
Leading with the UK is a completely workable approach and we are fully on board with it - with one adjustment: resolving the India drop needs to happen in parallel, not after.
The site is currently under a suppression/devaluation state following the core update. Building a new market on top of that unresolved sitewide issue would mean growing UK visibility on a foundation the algorithm currently does not trust - any UK gains would be built on the same discounted domain-level signals dragging India down.
So the sequence is: first, remove the weak/thin existing text sitewide, update meta tags across the whole site, reindex, and clean up the backlink profile. Once that is underway, we move to writing new meta tags and new content, running that in parallel with the UK build-out - rather than treating UK as a fully separate track that ignores what is happening on the core site.
| Metric | What it tells us |
|---|---|
| Organic rankings by cluster (UK) | Whether UK content is actually earning visibility, not just being indexed |
| GSC clicks / impressions / CTR (UK) | Real demand capture, isolated from the India recovery |
| Indexation status of new UK pages | Confirms Google is crawling and trusting the new build-out |
| Referring domain growth & quality (UK) | Whether link acquisition is compounding cleanly, with no repeat of the spam pattern |
| Organic traffic trend (UK) | The top-line go/no-go signal before expanding to India-repeat or further markets |
Once UK results are assessed against these metrics, we proceed with India and subsequently expand to additional countries.
6.Overall Strategy & Expected Results
Two tracks running in parallel, with India remediation front-loaded - we do not build UK visibility on top of a site the algorithm currently distrusts.
Diagnose & Stabilize
- Full audit of underperforming India pages - identify what triggered the pessimization
- Remove weak/thin existing text sitewide
- Rewrite meta tags across the site
- Backlink audit → disavow toxic links
- Reindex updated pages via GSC
- UK market analysis + baseline keyword/semantic research kicked off in parallel
- Competitor analysis for priority UK clusters, including backlink profiles
Rebuild & Expand
- Publish new, higher-quality content on previously weak India pages
- Begin on-page optimization and technical SEO fixes sitewide
- Build new pages for relevant UK entities not yet covered
- Define the UK-specific page formula per entity
- Start individual meta tag work for priority UK pages
- Begin UK link acquisition based on competitor-derived criteria
- Launch the blog, begin 4-5 articles/month cadence (UK-targeted)
Assess & Scale
- Monitor recovery signals on India pages - rankings, clicks, impressions
- Evaluate UK performance against defined success metrics
- Continue link building and content publishing cadence
- Report full metrics breakdown and a go/no-go recommendation on scaling UK further
Priorities, in order
- 1Stop the pessimization / stabilize India.
- 2Parallel UK foundation work - research, pages, on-page/technical.
- 3Link building and content marketing to compound both markets.
How we measure progress
Organic rankings by cluster, GSC clicks/impressions/CTR by geo, indexation status of updated pages, referring domain quality and growth, and - as the top-line metric - organic traffic trend by target geo.
Investment
A single monthly retainer covering the full India recovery and UK build-out work described above - no separate line items per deliverable.
Covers both tracks in parallel: the India pessimization recovery and the UK market build-out, including audits, content, technical work, link building, and reporting.
